PewDiePie: Legend of the Brofist Review

PewDiePie: Legend of the Brofist is primarily a platformer, occasionally transitioning into a side scrolling shooter.

While the game is generally a mixed bag, the level design is easily the highlight, as most levels are completely unique from each other, with very little in common besides the basics. While there is nothing revolutionary about any of the levels, they all take a solid idea and execute it well. I also appreciated that the levels are actually somewhat different when you change the difficulty, instead of simply giving you less health and playing the same exact level. Unfortunately, there a couple of big issues that make it tough to recommend.

First, the platforming is unusually slippery, which makes changing directions awkward. It doesn’t affect you once you get better at the game and don’t need to slow down, but it is frustrating at the beginning and most likely will affect the more casual players throughout the game. The other, more obvious flaw is the voice acting/story line/comedy. For people who don’t care about PewDiePie, the plot will feel like a series of terrible inside jokes accompanied by amateur voice acting. I assume fans of PewDiePie would generally enjoy this element, and for them I would definitely recommend the game. It isn’t an awful game, it’s just hard to sit through if you aren’t a fan.
