Frog Fractions is a difficult game to define. Without getting into too many spoilers, it is a blend of different genres. It’s best described as an adventure game, but it is so unique that it can’t really be compared to many games, outside of fairly experimental ones.
Frog Fractions has a blend of different gameplay styles, which generally work well together. Some stuff can be a bit weird or clunky, but overall, playing the game is pretty fun. It’s an exceptionally short game, so don’t expect much content or replay value.
Presentation-wise, it’s a little rough around the edges, but good. The graphics are done in a web game style, so it will always look a little cheap and amateur. Still, it is a well executed style that fits the game perfectly. The music is fantastic and nearly every sound effect in the game sounds great.
As for the story, it has some ups and downs. There is an extended section of storytelling that is dull and uninteresting, but this is a notable exception. The rest of the game’s story is funny, well-written and engaging. It certainly has its flaws, but when blended into the gameplay, it all works together.
Frog Fractions is a game with fantastic progression, in both gameplay and story. It’s barely an hour long, as well as free, so it’s worth trying if it even somewhat interests you. It has some lulls, but they only last a few minutes before you move on to something new. It probably won’t be your favorite game, but it delivers an enjoyable experience in a unique package.
