Brothers – A Tale of Two Sons is a puzzle adventure game with a narrative focus. It follows 2 brothers as they attempt to save their sick father by retrieving a magical medicine.
The story has some very cliche moments, but is generally effective and is, at worst, a decent story. The game does a good job of conveying plot points and emotions without any dialogue. This is primarily achieved through the use of emotive voice acting and solid visuals.
The graphics tend to look a bit dated nowadays, but they are ultimately effective. The animations can look wonky at times, but it usually doesn’t take you out of the game.
The puzzle elements are simplistic but are still interesting thanks to the unique control scheme. Without spoiling anything, the control scheme is used very creatively near the end of the game, and is one of the game’s strongest moments. The gameplay can sometimes feel too easy, but the game isn’t long enough that it overstays its welcome.
It isn’t an amazing game by any means, but it is still a worthwhile experience that has its fair share of good moments.
