Devil Daggers is an arena shooter where you face off against a scripted onslaught of enemies and try to beat your high score. It features a lot of classic FPS mechanics like bunny-hopping, rocket jumping, etc. There is no storyline or narrative, it is purely based on gameplay.
Overall, it’s a very simple game that has the difficulty perfectly balanced. One hit will kill you, so every enemy is threatening. It feels extremely challenging at first, until you make it farther and improve your skills. Everyone will hit different walls where it feels like they can’t get better, then they figure out some new strategy and last 10 more seconds. With such short runs, the game packs a ton of excitement into only a minute or 2 at a time. It’s an easy game to take a break from and come back to because of how bare-bones it is. Highly recommended for FPS fans who want a challenging, but not impossible, game.
